          Specific groups of rocks and their minerals are searched as indicators of the riftogenic zones, despite they often have signatures of superimposed tectono-thermal overprinting from their incorporation into the orogenic zones. Mineralogical, petrological (EPMA, micro-Raman, LA-ICP-MS, XRF, ICP-MS), isotopic-geochemical (LA-MC-ICP-MS, TIMS) and geochronological (U-Pb SIMS, LA-ICP-MS, Ar-Ar, K-Ar) methods will be applied to establish the chemical composition of minerals and rocks, their isotopic characteristics (U-Pb, Pb-Pb, Sm-Nd, Rb-Sr, Zr-Hf, Re-Os) and the ages.<\/em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

          Alkali basalts of southern Slovakia contain xenoliths of igneous rocks, which do not occur in Inner Western Carpathians. Observed rock types involve mafic gabbroic cumulates, syenites, granites, carbonatites and metasomatic products of their interaction with crust (skarns). Magmatic rocks originated during fractional crystallization of basaltic magma and partial melting of surrounding rocks. The project is targeted to deciphering mineralogical, geochemical, geochronological and petrological characteristics of magmatic rocks, evaluation of their genesis, geotectonic setting, source as well as metallogenetic potential with special emphasis on possible occurrence of critical metals, such as U, Th, Nb, Ta and rare earth elements. Additional goals refer to the interpretation and reconstruction of pre-Tertiary basement in southern Slovakia, as well as minimum age estimates of host pyroclastic maar deposits.<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Puti\u0161) \u201ePetro-chronology of the mantle and crustal dyke systems in the Cretaceous accretionary wedge of the Inner Western Carpathians and the eastern Austro-Alpine margin\u201d Click to Expand<\/span>

          <\/span>Cretaceous accretionary wedges of the Western Carpathians and the Austro-Alpine unit of the eastern Alps contains dykes of the crustal and mantle rocks. These rocks are significant indicator of Permian-Triassic or Jurassic-Cretaceous extension and the opening of the Neotethys and Atlantic Tethys respectively. They are of the key importance for the reconstruction of palaeotectonic and geodynamic evolution of the Carpathians and Alps. The mineral rock composition (EPMA, LA-ICP-MS) and their whole-rock chemistry (ICP-MS) will be used for definition of their palaeotectonic origin. The isotopic study (Rb\/Sr, Lu\/Hf, Sm\/Nd. U\/Pb) of the rocks and minerals, and their isotopic dating (U-Pb SIMS, nano-SIMS, LA-MC-ICP-MS, K-Ar) will enhance creation of geodynamic evolution model of mentioned accretionary complexes. Their occasional economic potential can be estimated.<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
